The Tuskegee Airmen Scholarship Foundation Selects La Trycee Fowler as its 2011 – 2012 National Spokesperson

The Tuskegee Airmen Scholarship Foundation (TASF), announced that La Trycee Fowler will serve as its 2011 – 2012 national spokesperson. TASF is a charitable organization that provides scholarships to deserving students to pursue their college endeavors.

La Trycee Fowler, a young up and coming actress, originally from Dale City, VA., graduated Cum Laude from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology and a concentration in Pre-Medicine and Applied Psychology. She then relocated to Hollywood, California where she debuted in her first national commercial “Go Momma,” and appeared on several television shows such as “Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader,” “1 vs. 100,” and “America’s Superwoman, Next Action Diva.” She also directed and produced a new Web series entitled “Hope,” written by Jule Leuren Jackson. She is a former member of the Los Angeles Kings Ice Crew, and will be competing for Miss California USA 2012, running on the platforms of Highr Education & Health Awareness.

Additionally, La Trycee was the lead and supporting actress in numerous productions including NAACP Theatre Award-Winning “Diary of a Catholic School Dropout”, directed by Layon Gray. At the time, Layon Gray, a NAACP Theatre Award Winner himself, was also directing a play he had written, “Black Angels Over Tuskegee.” After attending one of those performances, La Trycee began going to Tuskegee Airmen events and was asked to be a guest star at the TASF reception held at the 2010 National Tuskegee Airmen convention in San Antonio where she sang “Stormy Weather” to a cheering audience.

As a national spokesperson for TASF, Fowler will be the face and voice of its fundraising campaign. She will provide her name and likeness to the campaign and is available for national media opportunities to raise the awareness of the Tuskegee Airmen Scholarship Foundation.

“It is truly an honor to serve as the national spokesperson for the Tuskegee Airmen Scholarship Foundation.” said Fowler. “I am a strong believer in education and TASF’s mission of providing scholarships for students to continue their college education is definitely a worthy cause. I am excited to stand for a platform that I believe in and I can’t think of a better way to expose an outstanding organization like the Tuskegee Airmen Scholarship Foundation to the world! ” Recently La Trycee teamed up with director Francis De La Torre and writer Jule Leuren Jackson to produce a 45 second promotional spot for the Tuskegee Airmen Scholarship Foundation.

“We are delighted that Ms. Fowler has joined our organization as our national spokesperson. She has demonstrated her commitment to our cause over the last two years by supporting our events and furthering the efforts of our outreach to provide scholarships to deserving students.” said Jerry Hodges, President of TASF and a Documented Original Tuskegee Airmen.

Annually, TASF provides forty-one $1,500 scholarships to deserving students to pursue their college education. TASF’s goal is to increase the number of its annual scholarships to 100 students in the amount of $2,000 each, renewable for four years.

“Ms. Fowler will actively promote TASF during the current Combined Federal Campaign,” said Farrell J. Chiles, TASF Vice President of Resource Development. “Our focus is to reach federal employees throughout the 225 local campaigns with TASF’s print advertising, internet medium, distribution of promotional items, and increased attendance at targeted campaign kick-offs and federal agency fairs.” He further states, “The Tuskegee Airmen is a well respected organization. Ms. Fowler will help to promote the organization throughout the federal government sector. On a greater scale, La Trycee Fowler will assist in the marketing of TASF to individuals, foundations, and corporations for them to join TASF with their financial contributions. The goal is to ensure that the Tuskegee Airmen Legacy stays in the forefront by providing scholarships to disadvantaged and deserving students in pursuit of their college education. ”
