New Orleans, LA (RUSHPRNEWS) December 24, 2008–A concert series featuring roots rocker Susan Cowsill at the Voice of the Wetlands Festival will premiere on the Louisiana Cable Network (LCN-TV) Saturday, December 27 at 7 pm CST and re-air at 10 pm the same evening. LCN promotes Louisiana culture and music, and is on air and available for all cable systems within the U.S.
Cowsill joined Tab Benoit, Cyril Neville and other Louisiana musicians as they focused attention on the destruction of America’s wetlands and the need for human intervention. Voice of the Wetlands takes place every year in Houma, Louisiana.
“The wetlands of Louisiana fade daily due to erosion – at the rate the size of one football field an hour. I am proud to join Voice of the Wetlands as the voice of the people trying to fix this problem, which was one of the causes of the devastating flooding in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina,†Cowsill said.
New Orleans native Susan Cowsill has performed on more than 150 albums, amounting to over 10 million recordings sold. During Susan’s decade with New Orleans’ roots-pop super group, The Continental Drifters, her personally charged songwriting graced three widely acclaimed albums.
Susan’s vocal talents have supported recordings from artists as diverse as Dwight Twilley, Nanci Griffith, T-Rex, Giant Sand, Hootie and the Blowfish, and Carlene Carter. The Bangles and Hootie and the Blowfish have covered her compositions.
