Saudi Readymix Extends “Best Practices” Code of Conduct to Suppliers

Over the last couple of years, Saudi Readymix has been introducing and applying self-imposed stringent codes of conduct on its employees as well as its suppliers. This move is in tandem with Saudi Readymix’s commitment to ethical, legal and socially responsible business practices. By the fourth quarter of 2013, Saudi Readymix has fully engrossed all its business protocol according to a high standards’ Code of Conduct.

In part, Saudi Readymix’s Code of Conduct requires its employees as well as its suppliers to conduct best business practices with a focus on conflict of interest avoidance. The Code of Conduct is applied and enforced internally by its Human Resources and Administration department, whereas its suppliers are regulated by the Supply Chain and Audit departments.

“Our goal,” began Mr. Hani Keshta, Saudi Readymix Supply Chain Director, “is social responsibility and our means is purchasing for sustainability. In order to conduct, or continue to do, business with Saudi Readymix, suppliers must meet our Code of Conduct requirements at every transaction.”

Aside from quality assurance, Saudi Readymix Code of Conduct for suppliers includes compliances with Saudization, zakat and conflict of interest declarations.

Mr. Keshta added, “since the inclusion of new requirements in our Code of Conduct for suppliers last year, we have met with our existing suppliers and presented to them the requirements in full details to help them manage the change without delay or vagueness. In strengthening our supplier relations, we create a strong supply chain which in turn creates a better value for all stakeholders.”

Saudi Readymix is the leading producer and supplier of ready-mixed concrete in the Kingdom. The company operates 33 concrete factories, block factories, quarries and laboratories all across Saudi Arabia and under self-imposed standards above local and international requirements.
