Beverly Hills, CA(RUSHPRNEWS) January 29, 2008Â â€” Filmmakers from Austria, Israel, Kazakhstan, Poland and Russia will participate (subject to availability) in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciencesâ€™ Foreign Language Film Award Nominees Symposium on Saturday, February 23, at 10 a.m. at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.
The program, moderated by Oscar-winning producer and Foreign Language Executive Committee Chair Mark Johnson (â€œRain Man,â€ â€œ The Chronicles of Narniaâ€), will feature the directors of this yearâ€™s nominated foreign language films in a live onstage discussion addressing such issues as art, politics and filmmaking.
In addition to presenting clips from the nominated films, the two-hour event will also provide the opportunity for questions from the audience.
The 2007 Foreign Language Film nominees are:
Austria, â€œThe Counterfeiters,â€ Stefan Ruzowitzky, director
Israel, â€œBeaufort,â€ Joseph Cedar, director
Kazakhstan, â€œMongol,â€ Sergei Bodrov, director
Poland, â€œKatyn,â€ Andrzej Wajda, director
Russia, â€œ12,â€ Nikita Mikhalkov, director
Admission to the Foreign Language Film Award Nominees Symposium is free, but advance tickets are required. There is a four ticket per person limit. Tickets may be obtained online at www.oscars.org, by mail, or in person at the Academyâ€™s box office beginning Friday, February 1, at 9 a.m.

Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2007 will be presented on Sunday, February 24, 2008, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center, and televised live by the ABC Television Network beginning at 5 p.m. PT.
