Death. Mortality. Cancer. I am sorry to bring the facts of life to you so hard and fast but it is reality. Unfortunately, all too often that life is cut short by cancer. A debilitating disease that not only takes away the living breathing body that is you but ruins the financial stability of entire families. This has become an uncomfortable truth.
The average person cannot afford to survive cancer. The battle for life is being waged and there is a daily conflict about money. How is the electric bill going to get paid? Do we have money to go to the grocery store? While struggling to deal with the physical obstacles of being deathly ill the cancer victim also has to live with the knowledge that the life saving care needed is more than likely going to bankrupt their family. There are some small charitable organizations that are having big impacts on individuals lives by attempting to help families confront these issues.
Shirley’s Way is one of those organizations. A small charity making a big difference in cancer victims lives. Shirley’s Way was started because a family faced all of these same problems and facts of life. Mike Mulrooney is the founder of this small non-profit organization whose goals are to keep the memory of his mother alive by helping those who can no longer help themselves. He started by printing “Cancer Sucks” t-shirts and selling them online. He took the money he raised selling t-shirts and applied for 501c3 status for Shirley’s Way. His life mission has turned into “People Helping People” and he believes that folks should always offer a helping hand to someone in need, because it is the right and moral thing to do. Their mission is to be an extension of the household income and help local families throughout the year. People can’t fight alone.
Shirley’s Way helps everyone it can but their are limitations. All the time and effort is for naught if the resources to help do not exist. It relies upon the donations from the public and the purchase of merchandise to make a difference. If you or a member of your family has been through the devastation that cancer takes on a family then you truly know what it takes just to survive. Too many do not survive. There are many ways you can help. By spreading the word by wearing one of our shirts or hats or by making a donation. Every little bit helps. We couldn’t do any of the things we do without the generosity, kindness, and support of others.
If you are in need of assistance then please contact us right away so we can help.
