Stars Lindsay Lohan AND Shia LaBeouf in Traffic Calamities LaBeouf charged with DUI, Lohan NOT hit by motorcycle, see later storyBy Matthew B. Zeidman
NEW YORK (RUSHPRNEWS) 7/29/08 – It was a bad weekend for two of young Hollywood’s brightest stars. First, actress, singer and all-around entertainer Lindsay Lohan was hit by an errant motorcycle Saturday, while “Indiana Jones” star Shia LaBeouf was booked by police on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol Sunday after getting into a car accident.
According to the New York Post, Lohan, 22, was struck early Saturday morning outside a club in midtown Manhattan. The “Georgia Rules” headliner had DJ Samantha Ronson, her oft-amorous companion, at her side, when the vehicle/pedestrian collision occurred.
“She’s not hurt,” Lohan’s father, Michael, told the newspaper, which reported his famous offspring had been treated at and released from Beth Israel Medical Center. “That’s all I really care about.” The publication was unaware of the motorcycle rider’s identity or if a police report had been filed.
Lohan is a native of nearby Merrick, N.Y., where her mother, Dina, and two younger siblings, Ali, 14, and Dakota (“Cody”), 12, currently reside. Her father, who is divorced from her mother, lives in Southampton, N.Y.
Early Sunday morning, LaBeouf, also 22, was allegedly the offending driver in an accident of his own in Los Angeles. According to the Associated Press, the “Disturbia” up-and-comer injured his hand and knee in a crash in West Hollywood, which caused his car to flip. He was purportedly attempting to make a left into incoming traffic, when another vehicle struck his.
Neither his passenger nor the other driver was seriously hurt, but LaBeouf was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for treatment after being booked by police for an alleged misdemeanor DUI. According to a statement issued by a rep for LaBeouf Sunday evening, the thespian was recovering from “extensive hand surgery” and was expected to be well enough to continue filming the sequel to last summer’s big-budget hit, “Transformers,” within one month.
LaBeouf had a run-in with police earlier this year for violating Burbank, Calif.’s smoking ban by lighting up in a non-designated area. In addition, this past November, he was arrested in Chicago for refusing to leave a Walgreens after being ordered to do so by a security guard. The drug-store chain eventually dismissed the trespassing charges.
