ORANGE COUNTY, CA (rushprnews) May 5,2007 — A woman who gave birth to the nation’s first baby conceived by frozen eggs and frozen sperm will celebrate a special Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 13. Orange County-based West Coast Fertility Centers has achieved seven births from a recent fertility breakthrough utilizing egg freezing technology including Cadyn Elizabeth, the nation’s first frozen egg/frozen sperm born in October 2005.

“I’m just grateful to be a mother and to celebrate my daughter Cadyn this Mother’s Day,” said the 45-year-old mother who recently moved to Seattle from Orange County to be closer to family. After two years of unsuccessful fertility attempts, Barbara became pregnant in 2005 and delivered a healthy baby girl by utilizing donated frozen eggs and frozen sperm.

Brenda wanted another baby in her early 40s, but learned that the quality of her own eggs had decreased over time and she was unable to conceive. She delivered a healthy baby girl on January 31, 2007 after utilizing donated frozen eggs inseminated with her husband’s sperm. The family has plenty to celebrate this Mother’s Day with four girls including 3-month old Karlie Marycate.

Dr. David Diaz, Medical Director of West Coast Fertility Centers, says the recent success in thawing frozen eggs brings many new possibilities to potential parents. He explains, “Women who require donor eggs or who wish to freeze eggs instead of embryos now have a viable option.” He went on, “A frozen egg bank is much like a frozen sperm bank where patients can now select from online donor profiles.” Other advantages to donated eggs include significantly lower costs, fewer obstacles with finding and working with traditional donors and the elimination of cycle synchronization issues.”

The scientific team at West Coast Fertility Centers reports a 58% frozen egg pregnancy success rate with twenty pregnancies and seven births, while only 200 frozen egg births are estimated worldwide. West Coast’s online donor egg bank is one of the largest in the nation with a selection of more than 120 donor frozen eggs.
