Rio 2016 Olympic Bid -Exhibition space to promote Brasil during the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing
BEIJING (RUSHPRNEWS) AUGUST 6, 2008–The Beijing Olympic Games now has a space devoted entirely to Brasil. Tuesday August 5th saw the official opening of the Casa Brasil (Brazilian House), a centre to promote the country during the games. The event was attended by journalists from Brazil and around the world who are reporting on the XXIX Olympic Games.
Also present was Carlos Roberto OsÃ³rio, General Secretary of Rio de Janeiro’s Candidature Commission to host the 2016 Olympic Games. Other officials included Leonardo Gryner, Marketing Director of the Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB) and Rio 2016 Candidature Commission, Ricardo Leyser, from the Ministry for Sports, FlÃ¡via Malkini, from Embratur, Brazil’s tourism agency, and Silvia Lima, from APEX, the Brazilian export and investment agency.
Casa Brasil is located at the Jianguo Garden Hotel in Beijing’s main avenue, and will remain open until August 24th. The centre is decorated to highlight Brazil’s tourist sights and showcases Brazilian products and services, while a multimedia area provides extensive information about the country. At the opening journalists witnessed a live show. “This was just one example of the type of performance you will see in this Brazilian corner of Beijing. We have set up this exhibition because for the first time a Brazilian city is amongst the candidates to host the Olympic Games. Casa Brasil will not only provide entertainment, but also will promote the country in China”, explained Mr. OsÃ³rio.
Casa Brasil has a total cost of 10.45 million Brazilian reais, the budget provided by the Ministry of Tourism (R$2.5m), the Ministry for Sports (R$3.5m), the Brazilian Olympic Committee (R$2m), APEX (R$2m) and the Social Communication Secretariat of Brazil’s federal government (R$450,000).
