Bureau of Land Management Plans to Kill Wild Horses

mustangsWASHINGTON, (RUSHPRNEWS) 09/17/2008--In July, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) announced plans to kill off some of the wild horses they care for, claiming it can no longer afford to round up the wild horses and confine them until it finds people to adopt them.
The good news is that the public outrage has prompted an investigation into concerns about the BLM’s mismanagement. In about one week, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) will release its final report. We need your help to make sure the BLM hears loud and clear that they are being held accountable. Help us send 50,000 petition signatures to the BLM by September 22nd that oppose this plan to kill our wild horses »

This plan is the first time federal officials have proposed killing wild horses since Congress introduced federal protections in 1971 for America’s mustangs. At that time, Congress described them as “living symbols of the historic and pioneer spirit of the West.” But now our wild horses are paying the price for years of bureaucratic mismanagement.

That is why it’s important to let the BLM know that we will not tolerate such irresponsible plans to kill off our country’s symbol of freedom and independent spirit. But we need to deliver as many signatures as possible by September 22nd. Please join us today and tell the BLM: don’t kill our wild horses!

Thanks for taking action HERE!
