Academy Hits a High Note with Music Soundtrack Series
Beverly Hills, CA(RUSHPRNEWS) August 20, 2007 – â€” The art and craft of scoring music for motion pictures will be explored in detail during the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciencesâ€™ three evening series â€œThe Music Soundtrack: A Composersâ€™ Forum of Contemporary Scoring Technique.â€
Sessions will be held on September 20, September 27 and October 4 from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Academyâ€™s Linwood Dunn Theater in Hollywood. â€œThe Music Soundtrackâ€œ will offer an in-depth look at the music scoring process from the perspective of motion picture composers themselves. Each weekâ€™s topic will be illuminated by film clips, onstage discussions with guests and questions from the audience. The series schedule is as follows: September 20 â€“ Traditional Scores Moderated by Charles Bernstein (â€œMaya Lin: A Strong Clear Visionâ€), with six-time OscarÂ® nominee Lalo Schifrin (â€œCool Hand Lukeâ€) and Academy AwardÂ® winner Jan A.P. Kaczmarek (â€œFinding Neverlandâ€). September 27 â€“ Alternative Scores Moderated by Oscar nominee Bruce Broughton (â€œSilveradoâ€), with Mychael Danna (â€œLittle Miss Sunshineâ€), Oscar nominee Mark Isham (â€œA River Runs Through Itâ€) and Rolfe Kent (â€œSidewaysâ€). October 4 â€“ The Music Team Featuring George S. Clinton (â€œAustin Powers: International Man of Mysteryâ€), Michael Giacchino (â€œThe Incrediblesâ€), John Powell (â€œUnited 93â€) and Mike Flicker (music editor â€œAustin Powers: International Man of Mysteryâ€). Passes for the entire â€œThe Music Soundtrackâ€ series will be available starting September 4 at a cost of $30 for the general public and $20 for Academy members and students with valid ID.
