Pineapple Express: Put This in Your Pipe and Smoke It
This film, an outrageously hilarious blockbuster directed by David Gordon Green, starring Seth Rogen, James Franco and Danny R. McBride is a very twisted ode to The Dear Hunter and Apocalypse Now‘s 70s genre. With a sense of humor true to Rogen’s past films (“Superbadâ€, “Step Brothersâ€), “Pineapple Express†combines drugs, cops, guns, car chases and thrills.  James Franco’s excellent performance earned him a Golden Globe nomination. The film opened this year’s Just for Laughs festival in Montreal.
Righteous Kill: Everybody Respects the Gun
They’ve performed together in “Heat†and in “The Godfather: Part Twoâ€, and once again they’re reunited in another drama. Academy Award winners Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino are partners in law in “Righteous Killâ€, an exhilarating crime thriller directed by Jon Avnet (“88 Minutesâ€, “Fried Green Tomatoesâ€). This film tells the story of two New York City detectives who become aware that the serial killer they are trying to seize could very well be one of their own.
Bangkok Dangerous: One Way Out
Nicholas Cage plays Joe, a professional hit man, in Pang brothers’ latest action film “Bangkok Dangerous†is a remake from the 1999 original from the same duo. Joe’s new assignment brings him to Bangkok where a series of exhilarating encounters and escapades take place. Although no Golden Globe nominations have been announced for this thriller, it did earn itself a nomination for a Golden Trailer Award for Best Foreign Action Trailor.
