Viocase is a multifunctional self-sanitizing iPhone case and charger.
– The makers of Viocase, UV lights self-sanitizing smartphone cover launches today a Kickstarter campaign to raise $50,000 from its backers.
Over the past few years, various studies have alarmed consumers with headlines such as Your Phone Is Eighteen Times Dirtier than a Toilet Seat but with manufacturers of cleaning products at odds with phone manufacturers on how to safely clean smartphones, very few acceptable solutions have been provided. Viocase, a self-sanitizing phone case and stand hopes to remedy that problem.
How serious is the disconnect between phone manufacturers and cleaning products? Just read the cleaning suggestion on your iPhone customer manual, which explicitly forbids the use of “window cleaners, household cleaners, aerosol sprays, solvents, alcohol, ammonia or abrasives.” BlackBerry’s advice is comparable. Its manual states: “Do not use liquid, aerosol cleaners, or solvents on or near your BlackBerry device.” A spokesman for Google Inc.’s Android told the Wall Street Journal that the various manufacturers for its phone platform do not carry an official policy on cleaning methods. Company representatives for the Android, BlackBerry, and iPhone smartphones all stated that they did not have particular brands to recommend for cleaning. However, alcohol-based cleaning products are recommended to wipe out harmful germs and bacteria by cleaning product manufacturers. Moreover, how real of a health threat are uncleaned phones? According to various studies in the U.S. and the UK, the average smartphone has 18 times more potentially harmful bacteria on it than the flusher on the toilet in the average public men’s restroom and can seriously make you sick with all kind of communicable diseases.
The Viocase solution
Viocase serves many functions.
- It is portable and replaces a case. No need to carry an additional device.
- Its wrap-around case protects the screen and the body of your phone.
- it can be used a stand. Place your phone in the position of your liking and it will remain in that position.
- While cleaning your phone, it recharges it also.
- It sanitizes your iPhone.
Viocase uses built-in UV lights to sanitize the phone screen at the push of a button, while anti-microbial surfaces kill germs 24/7. Place your phone in the case and turn it on. There are no risks to your smartphone, the sensitive coating on the screen is safeguarded and the germs are killed. When the UV lights are finished destroying all the bacteria on your phone screen, the lights will quit blinking on the back of the case. That is all you have to do to sanitize your phone.
It houses six small but powerful UV lights fueled by a 2750 mAH lithium ion battery.
Viocase is a multi-functional cell phone case designed for the iPhone 6 and 6s. In the future and with your crowdfunding backing, we will expand the line to fit all sizes and types of phones.

Kickstarter campaign – Risks and challenges
The next step is to create a final product that can be injection molded; this will reduce manufacturing costs going forward. To proceed with the molding and dyes to be designed and produced, a manufacturing partner must be secured.
With the funding secured, Viocase can be manufactured at a low cost without compromising quality. Attaining the ideal balance of quality and affordability are the key to the success of Viocase.
