OZ Systems, a leading provider of public health information systems and interoperable exchange, is participating in the inaugural China Summit on Newborn Screening and Early Detection of Congenital Heart Disease on April 18-19 in Beijing, China.
Hosted by the Newborn Foundation in conjunction with China’s National Office for Maternal and Child Health Surveillance, the summit is designed to provide a public health framework for successful population health screening and infrastructure, particularly for China’s most prevalent birth defect, congenital heart disease. The meeting will include multi-national discussions and presentations of best practices from an esteemed international delegation of public health, policy, health IT, healthcare providers and clinical experts. The summit is part of a phased pilot project to explore screening capacity built around early detection and treatment of congenital heart disease in China.
Dr. Ken Pool, OZ Systems’ Chief Operating Officer, will share insights on health IT integration in support of population health screenings in newborns and children, including best practices and lessons learned from newborn hearing screening program implementations internationally. “This is a first-of-its-kind opportunity to work on a serious newborn health issue in a nation with one of the largest annual birth rates in the world. It’s exciting to share our experience working on health information systems for delivery hospitals and public health in other parts of the world,” said Dr. Pool.
The summit will take place:
Thursday, April 18 – Friday, April 19, 2013
Prime Hotel Beijing Wangfujing Meeting Centre
No. 2 Wangfujing St., Beijing, China, P.C. 100006
OZ Systems continues to be a world leader in the development and implementation of IT platforms and information systems that enable information exchange and interoperability for hospitals and public health, particularly in newborn screening and birth defects. The international delegation will also tour hospitals and public health offices in Sichuan Province, with the goal of implementing a phased pilot program for newborn heart screening in China.
