“Say Yes To the Dress” Couple Prepares for Texas-Sized Wedding

Once the pinnacle of a courtship is reached, why not invite almost 300 people to witness the most special day of your life? Soon-to-be newlyweds, Marcus Sloan and Tinnell McIntyre are doing just that. In great similarity to their home state, the couple’s wedding party is grand in size and style. McIntyre, along with her bridesmaids, were recently featured on the hit TLC bridal reality show, Say Yes to The Dress: Bridesmaids. The lively southern bride and her attendants made a striking television debut with their beauty and diva-esque rants, but they will be most remembered for their number- there are 15 total.  The Soon-to-be Sloan’s will say “I do” in front of 15 bridesmaids, 15 groomsmen and more than 270 witnesses on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at the Memorial Drive United Methodist Church. A lavish reception will follow at The Hobby Center.

The bride, Tinnell McIntyre, a popular professional make-up artist and hairstylist in Houston, is the mastermind behind the large guest list. “Everyone pretty much gives me the same reaction when I tell them (the size of the wedding party).  They’re like, ‘Are you serious?’”, she said laughing. “My wedding party is just a good mix of all of my friends along the way,” she ensures.  McIntyre, a Fort Worth, Texas native, relocated to attend the University of Houston where she pledged Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., which is partly to thank for her large bridal party.

To her wedding planner, Alexia McWhinney, Director of Houston-based Savvy Consulting and Event Management, McIntyre says on her Facebook wall, “If anyone after August 13th gets married without you, they are crazy. You have been the best planner in the world. I really don’t know what I’d do without you. I truly can’t say thank you enough!”

Of the occasion McWhinney assures, “It was a piece of cake. I’ve really enjoyed working with Tinnell and Marcus. Tinnell has been a dream bride, and her gorgeous bridesmaids, all 15 of them, really worked well together to make sure that Saturday is the culmination of a dream come true for the couple.”

The groom, Marcus Sloan, is professional basketball player and has spent the last four seasons with the Geneve Lions in Switzerland. He’s been a starting veteran in the European league and spends his off-season as a philanthropist and coach through his non-profit organization, Shoot2Score Hoops, which provides basketball camps for young boys and girls in Texas. Marcus is a Houston native and a former TCU Frog.
