The Tuskegee Airmen Scholarship Foundation (TASF) has appointed Farrell J. Chiles as Vice President for Resource Development. Chiles has the responsibility of guiding the organization through its “Reaching New Heights” Legacy Campaign.
Chiles is also coordinating TASF’s participation in this year’s Combined Federal Campaign (CFC), the largest work place giving program in the United States. This year’s goal is to receive .001% of all pledges realizing a potential of $275,000 in contributions for the 2009/2010 campaign from federal employees. The pledge season is from September 15th through December 15th. Annually, TASF provides forty-one $1,500 scholarships and one $20,000 scholarship to deserving students to pursue their college education. TASF’s future plans are to increase the number of its annual scholarships to 100 students in the amount of $2,000 each, renewable for four years.
Chiles brings years of experience and knowledge of the Combined Federal Campaign. He is a former member of the National Combined Federal Campaign Committee (2004-2009); former member of the Orange County (CA) Combined Federal Campaign Board of Directors from 2000 – 2007; and served as the 2001 Chair of the Orange County CFC Board of Directors. During his leadership, the campaign realized a 19.8% increase in donations and a 5% increase in employee participation. For the last two years, he has served as president of Christian Service Charities, a federation of 71 non-profit organizations whose members receive over $10,000,000 in contributions through the Combined Federal Campaign. From 2002-2006, he was the Chairman of the Board of the National Organization of Blacks In Government.
According to Chiles, “Our focus is to reach federal employees throughout the 250 local campaigns with targeted print advertising, internet medium, distribution of promotional items, and increased attendance at local campaign kick-offs and federal agency fairs”. He further states, “The Tuskegee Airmen has a well respected brand name. My challenge is to promote the Brand throughout the federal government sector”.
On a greater scale, Chiles said, “My mission is to market the organization to individuals, foundations, and corporations for them to join TASF with their financial contributions. We want to ensure that the Tuskegee Airmen Legacy stays in the forefront by providing scholarships to disadvantaged and deserving students in pursuit of their college education”.
