Leave Her to Heaven”to Color Academy Screen

Beverly Hills, CA (rushprnews) April 3, 2007— The 1945 noir tale of the wicked and murderous Ellen Berent will unfold in Technicolor drama at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ screening of “Leave Her to Heaven” on Friday, April 20, at 8 p.m. at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.

Set in the wilderness of Maine and New Mexico, “Leave Her to Heaven” stars Gene Tierney as a jealous wife willing to commit crimes of passion to guarantee her future with her husband (Cornel Wilde). In Ellen’s defense, her mother, played by Mary Philips, can only say, “There’s nothing wrong with Ellen. It’s just that she loves too much.”

“Leave Her to Heaven” earned Academy Award® nominations for Actress (Tierney), Color Art Direction (Lyle Wheeler, Maurice Ransford, Thomas Little) and Sound Recording (20th Century-Fox Studio Sound Department, Thomas T. Moulton, sound director). Cinematographer Leon Shamroy won the Oscar® for Color Cinematography.

This Gold Standard Series screening will premiere a new restoration by 20th Century Fox and the Academy Film Archive with funding from The Film Foundation.

Tickets to “Leave Her to Heaven” are $5 for the general public and $3 for Academy members and students with a valid ID. Doors will open at 7 p.m. Seats are unreserved.
