LOS ANGELES (RUSHPRNEWS) 9/22/08 – With the 60th Primetime Emmy Awards less than half over, Jeremy Piven and Laura Linney have taken home two of the night’s biggest prizes. Piven won Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for his role as a stressed out talent agent on HBO’s “Entourage,” while Linney scored Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or Movie for her portrayal of the titular character’s wife in the HBO historical miniseries John Adams.
“These are strange times for all of us,” Piven said as he accepted his award. To be a working actor is an unbelievable gift. None of this is lost on me.”
Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” with Jon Stewart won Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Series, while Dianne Wiest took home Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. Jean Smart was recognized as Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for ABC’s “Samantha Who?” and Željko Ivanek won Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for “Damages.”
