‘San Francisco Chefs. Food. Wine.’ Presents Heirloom Tomato Week, a Premier Event by Visa Signature®
Heirloom Tomato Week is one of three major events in San Francisco leading up to the first ever weekend-long food & wine event: San Francisco Chefs. Food. Wine. A Weekend Affair.
San Francisco, CA (RUSHPRNEWS) July 24, 2008 –The National Restaurant Association estimates that the tomato salmonella outbreak has cost the food industry at least $100 million. In an effort to provide some relief to local tomato farmers and promote one of the most celebrated summertime ingredients, San Francisco Chefs have banded together to create Heirloom Tomato Week – a restaurant promotion that features 52 of the most popular restaurants in the city showcasing heirloom tomatoes from local farmers in signature dishes or full tasting menus.
In addition to heirloom tomato inspired dishes, diners who visit participating restaurants during the promotion and pay with their Visa Signature card will also receive a commemorative book featuring all things tomato, including special recipes from the chefs and restaurants involved in the event.
PARTICIPATING CHEFS & RESTAURANTS:
Heirloom Tomato Week and the commemorative book feature over 52 prominent chefs and restaurants, including Joey Altman of Miss Pearl’s Jam House, Chris Cosentino of Incanto, Bruce Hill of Bix, Traci des Jardins of Jardinière and Acme Chop House, and Craig Stoll of Delfina. A full list of participating restaurants can be found here (http://sfchefsfoodwine.com/).

The Heirloom Tomato Week promotion will take place in the San Francisco Bay Area from August 14th – 24th. Reservations can be made through OpenTable.com (http://www.opentable.com/promo.aspx?m=4&pid=294).

The books will be given to diners who eat at participating restaurants and pay with their Visa Signature card.
These events will culminate in a first of its kind, three-day food and wine event: San Francisco Chefs. Food. Wine. The Weekend Affair.
