LOS ANGELES (RPRN) 8/4/2009—With a friendly mouse as her costar, Layla Kayleigh stars in a brand-new ad campaign for peta2, the world’s largest youth animal rights organization. The ad, which was shot by top celebrity photographer Nick Saglimbeni, is part of peta2’s “Animal Testing Breaks Hearts” campaign, which urges consumers to buy only cruelty-free products. The group is promoting the campaign across the country at the Vans Warped Tour.
Why is Kayleigh’s tail in a twist over animal testing? Rabbits, guinea pigs, and other animals who are used to test cosmetics and household products are blinded, burned, and poisoned. These painful and deadly tests are not required by law. Hundreds of companies have listened to consumers and pledged not to test their products on animals. A list of cruelty-free companies is available here.
Kayleigh is currently the host of World Poker Tour and the cohost of the hit MTV show America’s Best Dance Crew. She has served as a correspondent for Current TV, modeled for Maxim magazine, hosted segments on G4’s Attack of the Show!, and worked as a reporter for The Best Damn Sports Show Period.
“I just feel like with animal testing, it’s such an unnecessary thing,” said Kayleigh in an exclusive peta2 interview. “It just blows my mind that this can be happening in this day and age for a lipstick or a mascara.”
Kayleigh is the latest celebrity to join with peta2 and speak up for animals. Visitors to peta2.com will find interviews with all their favorite bands and celebrities — from Blink-182’s Tom DeLonge, Cobra Starship’s Gabe Saporta, Gym Class Heroes’ Travis McCoy, and hellogoodbye to Audrina Patridge, Khloe Kardashian, Eva Mendes, and Pink. They can also enter contests to win great prizes, including free iPods and concert tickets. For more information, please visit peta2.com.
