St-Petersburg,Fla (RushPRnews) 02/17/09-A few days ago, we figured we’d find 15 to 20 promises addressed in the economic stimulus bill. But now our best estimate is 49. And that number might still grow.In just four weeks in office, President Obama has passed a major bill that makes substantial progress on much of his domestic agenda — far more progress than many people realized. Our writers Angie Holan and Rob Farley are still sifting the promises from the dense wording in the 1,071-page bill, but they’ve already got five
new Obameter items on our site. (Keep in mind that not every item will earn a Promise Kept. Indeed, our new ones include two Promises Kept, two Compromises and one Broken.)
The stimulus bill contains “$20 million for the removal of small to medium-sized fish passage barriers” and “$25 million to rehabilitate off-roading trails for ATVs.”
• No. 327, Support increased funding for National Endowment for the Arts, Promise Kept.
• No. 32, Create a tax credit of $500 for workers, Compromise
• No. 257, Create the American Opportunity Tax Credit to offset college costs, Compromise
• No. 505, Create a $3,000 tax credit for companies that add jobs, Promise Broken
• No. 40, Extend and index the 2007 Alternative Minimum Tax patch, Promise Kept
