You2Gov Challenges Americans to One-Up Paris Hilton

LOS ANGELES (RUSHPRNEWS) August 8, 2008 — As the presidential race enters its final months and the campaigns ramp up their advertising efforts, You2Gov.com announced a contest to give regular citizens an opportunity to get involved in the political process, just like Paris Hilton did yesterday by posting her own online “campaign ad” in response to Senator John McCain. You2Gov.com , a new political social network, is challenging Americans to create their own 30-second television advertisement in support of Senator Barack Obama or Senator John McCain, and the winner will receive cash and the opportunity to have their ad run on television prior to the 2008 election.

The deadline to submit ads toYou2Gov.com is September 30 and winners will be announced October 16. You2Gov provides American citizens with an online forum where they can find up to the minute information on the issues they care about, start their own “interest group” with other like-minded citizens in the form of an online community, and leverage their collective power to influence their representatives in Government.

Starting today, You2Gov members can submit their 30-second television commercials in support of the major Democratic and Republican candidates for President to www.president.you2gov.com. The public is encouraged to view the submissions, chat with other users about the contest, and vote for their favorite ads at www.president.you2gov.com. In September, You2Gov will announce a jury of media experts that will be responsible for reviewing the submissions and selecting two winners: the best ad in support of Senator Barack Obama and the best ad in support of Senator John McCain. The panel will select the winners based on two factors: the number of votes received by You2Gov members online and the internal vote of the panel.

The contest winners will receive $1,000 and the opportunity to have their ad aired prior to the November election, as You2Gov will submit the ads to both campaigns and to major advertising agencies. Ads submitted by professional firms or by groups will be disqualified, as will ads that contain offensive language, pornographic images, or libelous material.
