Rosie Flores Set to Rock the Texas Fourth in Houston and Austin

Austin, Texas, (RPRN) 6/30/09-- Rosie Flores brings her unique blend of rockabilly, honky-tonk blues and critically acclaimed poetic songwriting and ripping guitar solos to Houston when she rolls into the Continental Club, 3700 Main Street, on July 3 at 10 pm. The Fourth of July won’t ever be the same after Rosie rocks Austin’s Saxon Pub, 1320 S. Lamar Blvd, in the 8 pm slot. Rosie has been a major figure in the Los Angeles, Austin and Nashville music scenes, as well as in Europe and Japan. Born just down the road from her current home base of Austin, in San Antonio, Rosie has won the respect of peers and fans around the world. She is recognized as a hard working artist whose energized vocals and gritty guitar solos belie the heart and soul of an angel.

Rosie Flores grew up listening to regional radio stations and watching Dick Clark's legendary rock'n'roll television show American Bandstand. She cites Elvis Presley and Brenda Lee as her earliest musical influences. Rosie began her recording career at age seven, when her father engineered a two-track recording of her singing at home with her brother and sister. One of these childhood recordings ended up on her Hightone release, “Rockabilly Filly.”

June 2008 found Rosie onstage at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City, accepting the prestigious Peabody Award for her narration of the 10-hour documentary radio show on the history of Rockabilly, "Whole Lotta Shakin',” produced by Lex Gillespie.

Critical raves from prestigious publications such as the Los Angeles Times and Guitar Player Magazine, and an LA Weekly Music Award for "Best Rockabilly Swing Artist" are just a few of the accolades garnered along the way. Austin mayor Will Wynn proclaimed Rosie Flores Day in August 2006. Induction into the Austin Music Hall of Fame followed in 2007. Venus Zine, a leading source for coverage of women in music, art, film, fashion, and culture voted Rosie one of the "Top 75 Greatest Female Guitarists of All Time.”
