Matt Damon On Palin's Political Rise 'It's Like A Really Bad Disney Movie"

NEW YORK (RUSHPRNEWS)09/28/2008--Actor Matt Damon spoke to the Associated Press about the Republicans' choice of self-proclaimed hockey-mom Sarah Palin for VP. Damon compares her proximity to the most important job in the United States, the presidency, to a 'really bad Disney movie' and told the AP "it's absurd that this woman could become President."

"I think there's a really good chance Sarah Palin could become president, and I think that's a really scary thing... I think the pick was made for political purposes... Do the actuary tables and there's a one out of three chance, if not more, that McCain doesn't survive his first term and it'll be President Palin... It's like a really bad Disney movie. The hockey mom, you know, 'oh, I'm just a hockey mom'... and she's facing down President Putin... It's totally absurd... it's a really terrifying possibility. "

In the video, the actor also anxiously pleads to know more about Palin's knowledge of dinosaurs, and evolution, and whether or not, as it was reported in the Anchorage News, she called for removal of books from her town's library.

"I need to know if she really think that dinosaurs were here 4,000 years ago. I want to know that, I really do. Because she's gonna have the nuclear codes."

"It's like a really bad Disney movie, "The Hockey Mom.' Oh, I'm just a hockey mom from Alaska, and she's president," said Damon. "She's facing down Vladimir Putin and using the folksy stuff she learned at the hockey rink. It's absurd."

Maria Comella, a spokeswoman for Palin, talked with the Associated Press about Damon's interview and called his comments "name calling."
<>"It's not surprising that [Democratic presidential nominee] Barack Obama and his celebrity supporters continue to tear down Governor Palin with little more than blatant name-calling," Comella said. "It's clear they're threatened by a candidate who actually has a record of achieving reform and change, while Barack Obama just talks about it."
 
As far as celebrities taken active political stance, it's as old as Reagan was when he was elected to the presidency. And as Arnold says, "A citizen first, an actor second."
