Fergie To Play A Prostitute In "Nine"
August 2, 2008
LOS ANGELES (RUSHPRNEWS) AUGUST 2, 2008-Fergie will portray a prostitute in the upcoming film "Nine", an adaptation of the Tony-winning musical which stars actors Daniel Day Lewis, Penelope Cruz, Nicole Kidman and Judi Dench.
The Black Eyed Peas frontwoman told the Associated Press her character is "basically a prostitute on the beach. She introduces (Day-Lewis' character) to the world of sexuality. I'm just thrilled I get to play a character... I'm going to be singing as a character, and that's what's really exciting to me." Presumably, the flick's mature content won't pose a problem for the 33-year-old, who admitted to Britain's Daily Mirror last year that she was "a very sexual person".
Born Stacy Ann Ferguson, "Nine" will be the singer's fourth major screen role following her cameo appearances in 2004's "Be Cool", 2006's "Poseidon" - both critical and commercial failures - and 2007's "Planet Terror". The Grammy Award winner went on to say in her interview with the AP that she's "speechless" about working with the renowned actors in her latest film.
"I'm definitely going to be a sponge on set. I want to pick up on everything that all these brilliant actors are bringing to the table. I'm probably going to be the quietest that I've ever been while working just because I want to watch and learn."
Fergie, who was named Blender magazine's "Woman Of The Year" in 2007, went on to disclose details about the Black Eyed Peas' first full-length album since 2005's "Monkey Business".
"It's a new sound," she said. "We're going into the future. We're not doing the same old thing. We're not trying to copy what's out there on the radio. We're being artistic and pushing the envelope."
